With proper maintenance, granite and marble tops can stay new-looking for a very long time. To help protect the structure of natural stone, we treat all our materials with a high quality penetrating sealer as part of the fabricating process. However it is advisable to wipe spillages as quickly as possible, using warm soapy water, and then dry with a soft cloth. For more stubborn marks, a synthetic scrubbing pad can be used.

Although granite is very durable, it is an entirely natural product, and as such there are small imperfections in the surface, which can absorb liquid. It is advisable therefore to avoid getting acidic and caustic spillages on work surfaces, as this could result in staining.

Granite is a popular choice for kitchens because it is very hard-wearing but also offers a beautiful and unique look. The various crystals found within granite catch the light in different ways and change the appearance, and therefore no two slabs are exactly the same. Colour variations and natural imperfections in stone are therefore deemed as normal and acceptable. The thickness of granite is nominal and can vary – a variation of 2mm across a single piece is acceptable.

To ensure an accurate installation, it is strongly advised that someone is on site to liaise with World of Marble on the day of templating. All base cabinets need to be secured and levelled and capable of supporting the stone. All existing work surfaces should be removed in order that the installers can accurately view cabinetry, position of plumbing and electrics, and condition of walls.

World of Marble installers are not qualified electrical or plumbing contractors, and therefore cannot connect or disconnect plumbing or electrical connections. These should be undertaken by professional trades with the appropriate qualifications and certification.

The size of granite, marble and quartz slabs varies greatly, and therefore we reserve the right to locate joints, dependant upon the type and thickness of the material, and the number and location of cut-outs.

On the day of installation, a representative should be present to verify that the installation has been completed satisfactorily. Should a template or installation visit not be possible on the agreed date, and World of Marble have not been informed at least 48 hours prior, then we reserve the right to charge for an aborted visit.
